(ACD) - The
United Alliance of Uniformed Workers today ratified a strike vote
called because of the forced change in the uniform provided by the
employers of three companies that negotiate with the union. "How
would you like to work in a uniform that was made of a blend of
polyester and nylon? That is what is being forced on us by the
greedy owners we work for" Mr. Blacker, shop steward, told this
reporter. "They did not inform us of this uniform change, they
just started handing out these uniforms and told all the employees
that this is the new required work outfit. The material doesn't
breathe, it's quite loud when rubbed together when you walk and
it's also very ill-fitting. The fact that it costs 70% less that
our standard issue uniforms really shouldn't matter" Mr. Blacker
went on to say. The strike will cripple the uniform cleaning
companies if it begins, as ratified, next Monday. Management had
no comment.
