(PMC) - The Surgeon General has acknowledged more diseases that are caused by smoking: acute myeloid leukemia, cancers of the cervix, kidney, pancreas and stomach, abdominal aortic aneurysms, cataracts, periodontitis and pneumonia. Still waiting to be added to the list are death and bad breath. This brings a total of more than 66 defined medical illnesses that are directly attributed to smoking. At dispute are the more than 4 million ways a person can die without smoking. Sex is still at the top of the list.
