- The National Hockey League's commissioner's office today
released a statement concerning the talks progress of the
player's lockout. "Talks are progressing well and we anticipate
starting a two week training camp for all teams and a 21 game
season leading to the playoffs." The short season game schedule
will be announced within days pending final ratification of the
contract terms. "Players will receive salary caps that will keep
all teams in a profit zone that will ensure the survival of the
league" stated an unnamed official from management's office.
"Owners are ready to pledge open books and salary cap penalties
that will transfer income from rich market teams to poor market
teams provided league expansion is taken off the table for the
next 10 years."
